Tl;dr version: multiple books, including Babel were deemed “ineligible” with no cause given. And the statistics behind the votes, especially considering how it took much longer for the data to come out, seems to be extremely fishy.

That’s the best site I’ve found so far doing a deep dive of the data and why folks are mad. And it is easy to see why.

Is this going to be another chapter in the ongoing, “Science Fiction must celebrate diverse authors to reach diverse audiences/This award is being run such that white men can no longer win” argument? I’ve taken two big steps back from following the Hugos over the last decade of so because it stopped being a celebration and started having some real animosity to it (from my admittedly outsider perspective).
