I just finished “The Chaperone” by M. Hendrix. Honestly I’m a little annoyed. The premise is that part of the country/mainly the South I guess got turned into a theocracy and is now “New America.” The main character wants to escape to “Old America” and ends up in WV at some point. It’s not explicitly said, but Charleston and Harper Ferry are mentioned. It bugs me that multiple times they mention a shirt that says “Mountaineers” that’s meant to represent WVU (another character says it’s their -local- college) that’s supposed to be in green and white. WVU (West Virginia University) are the Mountaineers. Their colors are blue and gold. I kinda feel like the author figured WV would be a logical cut off point but didn’t actually research WV enough to know two of our major universities are WVU and Marshall, and WVU is blue and gold and Marshall is green and white. It’s a little detail that bugs me.
