I think you can get Fire in Frost for free (aside from premium), and I enjoyed that. It’s maybe a bit more focused on worldbuilding and setting up the context for the rest of the series, but it was still really good with an engaging plot. Maybe worth noting a content warning for abusive relationships though

Ann Patchett! She, herself, is a lovely narrator on Truth & Beauty; The Dutch House is narrated by Tom Hanks; Tom Lake is narrated by Meryl Streep.
