I am looking for books similar to Project Hail Mary or The Martian by Andy Weir. Similar as in same kind of humor in a sci-fi setting or similar characters to the MC’s in Project Hail Mary/The Martian. Also looking for audiobook suggestions if at all possible as this book will be used for a road trip. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You could try the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells! I think the reader is good! They are on the short side (~3-4 hours) but there are 7 of them.

    2. I have so many Audible Books to recommend but some are fantasy and some are sci fi that lack the humor.

My favorite Sci Fi that I have listened to multiple times is Ann Leckie’s Ancillary Justice series. Sci fi but not the humor. Great 3 book series. A giant ship that uses humans connected to its AI main frame using the humans as its ancillaries gets blown up and only one human is left. The human sees itself as the ship with the memories of the 2,000 year old ship but has lost all the sensors it had as the ship and all abilities to see through the 100s of other Ancillaries. The lone ancillary goes on a mission to kill the one responsible for destroying the ship – its body. The ancillary has to learn how to live in the human world. Great world building.

Like you I loved Hail Mary so much. Andy Weir’s book ‘Artemis’ was an enjoyable audiobook. His 3rd best book but still had the sci fi and the humor. A human is living on the space station above earth. Andy Weir created a believable environment of what it would be like with people living there and trading with earth.

A book with the humor but not Sci Fi is Sign Here by Claudia Lux. A person who traded his soul for reason he can’t remember is in hell is trying to get enough souls so he can get back to his life. Hell is very much like working in a corporate office trying to meet bench marks.

I will be interested in other Audio suggestions. This is how I reclaim my commute time.
