    Hey all!

I know I’m not unique in this, but I am one of those people who was an avid reader as a kid/teen, and now everything feels boring or contrived to me. I haven’t read something besides nonfiction in awhile, but I miss reading a lot.

I like fantasy, more lukewarm to a lot of scifi. I like horror/mystery but I am a bit sensitive about gore. I find it much easier to read gore than watch on TV, but gratuitous gore really bothers me.

I am not against romance in novels, but I don’t want that to be a main focus, and don’t like it if those characters are minors. If they’re adults I’m down for straight up erotica with plot.

I don’t know if this needs to be said but nothing that most people would consider “bad”. Like, no incest or rape. The last time I got an itch to read, I found a really interesting looking book only for their to be a weird rape scene 20 pages in (The Boatman’s Daughter) that not a single soul mentioned on reviews, and it legit put me off even trying to find another book for months.

Let me know if I need to be more specific, canmt wait for suggestions!

    1. Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews. Starts with Burn for Me. Great urban fantasy with a side of slow burn romance. Super interesting magic system.

Witch King by Martha Wells was a great fantasy novel I read recently, and I don’t remember any explicit “bad” scenes you mentioned. I also really like the Scholomance series by Naomi Novik.

Try Witching Souls: Fire and Air by Maeve Lindley!

      It’s an e-book that’s completed recently.
