On the Mexican Riviera currently and I’d LOVE to read something about being at sea/near warm oceans and having adventures. Currently re-reading Voyage of the Dawn Treader for the zilionth time (the Narnia books have their issues but are very sentimental to me) and I’d love to find more easy-to-get-into fiction that has a sort of gentle, upbeat, even dreamy feeling. I read a lot of of tween fiction because it’s fun and low stakes (love a 11-year old saving the day in a book even if my adult self wants to scream “where are your grown-ups!?!”) and other faves are Island of the Aunts (or anything by Eva Ibbotson), Sharon Creech, Howl’s Moving Castle, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Harry Potter 1-3, etc. Looking for quirky, sassy humorous reads that don’t take themselves too seriously (bonus points for self-aware poking fun at their own genre). Also interested in YA/adult books with Pirates of the Caribbean vibes!
