I’ve just finished Hello Beautiful and it was difficult for me to finish because of my reaction to how William behaved after Julia left. I somewhat understand his reasoning behind wanting to protect his daughter from himself, but how is it possible that for decades, he NEVER thought twice about abandoning his daughter. How could he not have ever wondered after the emotional and financial well-being of his ex-wife and daughter, to not have chipped in in any way?! While the timing might not have been ideal to confront him after Sylvie’s death, he certainly deserved a more substantial moment of reckoning. Honestly, I found his passiveness infuriating.
