I am a big reader but I wouldn’t consider myself knowledgeable on what’s up in the book world. We have some friends that are really into Sanderson sort of introduce us to him and all his stuff. He has a podcast with another author(I have not ever actually listened to it so I don’t know if it’s about his books or not), he does a weekly update on YouTube about what he’s writing, he has an online store where he sells pretty cool stuff from his books, and we went with them to Dragonsteel, a convention that his company puts on and they had a big convention game that had to do with his book Skyward, classes, crafts that were things from his book, a game hall, and a big vender hall that included some indie authors, and did a book release thing, and the release he announced that he was building a headquarters that fans could come visit.
Are there other authors doing this kind of stuff? The only thing similar I’ve ever come across on my own is a book release party at Barnes and Noble or my teen has been to an author camp where they had classes and a few authors there. I feel like the only other books I ever see merch for anywhere are Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings. Do other authors have their own store? Any authors you enjoy following on social media?

Brandon Sanderson did an AMA here [you might want to take a look](http://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/2ytg2h/im_novelist_brandon_sanderson_ama/) 🙂 [Here’s a link to all of our upcoming AMAs](http://www.reddit.com/r/books/wiki/amafullschedule)
