I read the divergent series way back I (and of course Harry Potter) really enjoyed that. Dune and the maze runner was good as well. I have book 1 of A Court of Thorns and Roses, book 1 of the knife of never letting go, and yesterday night I got started on interview with a vampire series. So far I love how Anne Rice has written the book.

However I want something more fantasy for adults,
I don’t want to read the lord of the rings, the magicians, American gods, never after, the red rising, the dark tower, game of thrones, Twilight, vampire diaries, and based on the synopsis of Malice by John Gwynne I don’t want to read that either. They all don’t draw me in (lord of the rings movie wise was a 7 but I’m not a hardcore fan for all that; only when it comes to Harry Potter that I’m a hardcore fan lol) and tickle my fancy lol.

I think I might like Throne of glass, immortal instruments, the Atlas six which are all added to my TBR list. I know I want something dealing with either witches, demons, queens, kings, blood & sex, angels, aliens, warriors, or something with a westworld or divergent vibe to it.

Anything someone can suggest to me?
(I’m a picky reader if you can’t tell lol)

Locked Tomb Trilogy (Quartet) by Tamsyn Muir.

The Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee.

The Crimson Empire by Alex Marshall.

You might like the Aurora Cycle series by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. Its a bit YA but has aliens, some violence and sexual scenes.

Name of the wind by Patrick rothfuss….great book, never read HP, but this is a more mature take on orphan goes to magic school. Caveat 2 books of a trilogy, and it’s been years since book 2, with no release date yet. And some people say MC is a Mary sue (good at everything) I think they’re confusing that with an unreliable narrator.

Realm of the elderlings by Robin hobb….pretty epic and giant fantasy series made up of smaller series. Assassins Apprentice is the 1st book. I loved it, but a bit slow to.start…the magic ship or realm of elderling books pick up quicker, can be read on their own, but occur chronologically later than Assassin’s.so some spoilers as the plots overlap and build up to each other.

The Sarah J Maass books you mentioned are fun. I was personally more into the fantasy story than the sex scenes. I found them a bit cringey, and there’s a few descriptions of toothy blow job’s and I’m not really sure who that’s for.

    4. You might try the incarnations of immortality by piers Anthony. The books deal with the fates death, time, mother earth etc. The first book on a pale horse, a man kills death so he has to take over for him

    5. There is Luminocity – Grieving Gold from Daniel McDaniel.
The author describes it as Aztec mythology inspired Game of Thrones, with multiple POV-s and a plot around war, politics, street gangs, and cosmic horrors.
It is not out yet, but you can download the first 80 pages or so from the author’s website.

    6. Throne of Glass is my favorite series. Although I would consider it more YA, especially in the first few books of the series. And it’s definitely lighter on the sex scenes than SJM’s other two series. But the world building over the span of all the books…and the tears I cried in that last book. *chef’s kiss*

I’d also highly recommend Carissa Broadbent’s War of Lost Hearts series.

    7. If you like Victoria Schwab by any chance (didn’t see her listed on there), she has a more adult series called Shades of Magic under her V.E. Schwab name. Even if you haven’t read her, I still recommend the series. It’s only a trilogy, but it’s good.

    8. Fourth Wing.

Hands down one of the best books I’ve read this year. I describe it to people like Hunger Games, Divergent and Maze Runner vibes but with dragons and steamier scenes. It is so good! The second one in the series comes out next month. Can not recommend it enough.
