I’ve always loved to read, but always found myself too preoccupied by work or other hobbies to do it as much as I wanted, but recently fell back in love with it when reading The Saxon Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell. I’ve already purchased his Warlord Chronicles series to start once I’m done with the former (three books to go) but was really wanting some suggestions for Historical Fiction, Normal/High Fantasy, and Science Fiction.
The issue I’m running into is that most popular books/series I’m finding seem to be YA, full of all the YA tropes. If you like YA, that’s all well and good, it just isn’t for me. Something I appreciated about The Saxon Chronicles is even though the protagonist starts off quite young, at no point did it ever feel like YA. The series always felt like it was meant for adults. So anyway, I don’t need it to be more historical fiction, I quite enjoy other types of fiction, I’m just tired of all the top online results being for YA novels and booktok trends.
Someone send help.
P.S. I’ve read most of the classics like Dune, The Darktower Series, etc. I’m really looking for more modern suggestions, stuff within the past 20 years.
