Hi everyone. After seeing this book recommended a million times in this sub I finally gave it a shot. I finished it in two days not because I was hooked, but because I kept expecting the twist with high expectations after reading so many comments about how good the ending was.
And when it came it felt SO cheap, I dont want to hate on the book or the author, and if you love this book then Im glad for you. But the ending felt so out of the blue, impossible to predict in the worst possible way.
It didnt make me feel like I was the one that missed the clues that became obvious after I knew the answer. Nope. It actually reminded me of kids that, when playing, make up stuff to win at the end. “Oh yeah? And I actually have a titanium skull that will protect me from your punches so I win”.
Also, I didnt really enjoy the story itself? I felt like I was just being told stuff, characters making a summary of everything that just happened (even though I just read it), and they are all there just standing around waiting to be fucking killed. Like what man? At least try to defend yourself in some way?
And is it just me or are the characters just plain stupid, going off by themselves knowing someone is picking them off one by one? It actually reminded me of Scream when that girl goes to get a beer at the garage and everyone jokes that she will die, and oh surprise, she dies.
I dont know, I wasnt sold on this tbh, should I try another book from her? They are really short so I im not that angry, but is it worth trying with another one?
Also, anyone else feels like me about this one? Every discussion I check on reddit just praises this book non stop like it is the best thing ever written, and I couldnt disagree more.
