Like many readers, I have a habit of reading a lot of fantasy almost to the exclusion of other genres. When I tried to escape the vortex of this familiar genre, I found it easiest to venture into scifi as it often has a lot of appealing high concept ideas similar to fantasy, and non-fiction as there is no end to the number of interesting real world topics and historical events to draw from. But I only now just realized how few fiction titles I’ve read from other genres.
While I’ve read more than 95 books, 95 is the number of books I enjoyed and remembered to jot down. After looking back at my list, I realized that only **9** of the 94 didn’t fall into one of the above three catagories.
Hell I can list them here:
– *The Things They Carried* (which is only kinda fiction)
– *The Curious Incident of The Dog in The Night Time*
– *One Flew Over a Cukoo’s Nest*
– *The Hunt For Red October*
– *Good Omens*
– *Rule of The Bone*
– *Mrs Frisby and The Rats of NIHM*
– *Pillars of The Earth*
– *The Count of Monte Cristo*
As you can see, I have a problem venturing into other fiction catagories. There’s so many options and nothing seems to stand out.
What are your recommendations to get me into other fiction genres?
