This might sound odd but I find the monologues of Half life 2’s Dr. Breen very captivating. He has a way with words which really puts me at ease.
He does come off as pretentious sometimes. not really verbose, but definitely convincing and manipulative, casually gaslighting you without you noticing in the first place. He uses a lot of metaphors and figurative speech.
I’m not sure if there’s a literary style to this type of writing or if Breen is just written in a specific way that jives with me.
Anyways I’d like to know if there are books with similar characters as Breen, or just a general writing style as his speeches.
