Longtime reader of (among other genres) spy novels here, and they sorta kinda scratch the itch of what I’m looking for, but I’m tired of the “one man army” formula of spy novels.

Clancy’s “Executive Orders” is more in the realm of what I’m after. Something that tells the story of a large global conflict or incident or something like that but not from an on-the-ground perspective. At least not primarily.

    Thanks in advance!

    1. Might be a bit too outlandish but World War Z is written at a global scale like this. I read it a long time ago but I think the entire story plays out in diplomatic cable-style missives and reports. It’s actually pretty fun, I was expecting it to be a lot dumber.

    2. Two things come to mind…Have you tried the Mitch Rapp series? And secondly, hear me out, if you’re interested in geopolitics, you really, really, really, fucking really, ought to read *The End of the World is Just the Beginning* by Peter Zeihan.

You won’t see the globe in the same way ever again. I could not put it down. 10/10
