22-year old here. Finance student (f) in university. Not an avid reader whatsoever. Looking for relatively contemporary fiction books that were powerful enough to change or enhance your life or perspective on something, be it relationships, friendships, money, ambition, career, mental health, etc. Not interested in memoirs, books that lean into personal development territory, or books that are purely fun-read romances/thrillers. in books that are well-written but not too long/hard to get through. I know all this is vague- as I said, I don’t read too much fiction for fun.
Some books I’ve read and liked:
1. Educated by Tara Westoever
2. Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
3. Gone Girl (the cool girl monologue is something I think about way too often)
4. Want Me by Tracy Clark Flory
5. The Beauty Myth by Naomi
6. Severance by Ling MA
7. I Who Have Never Known Men

As someone who doesn’t gravitate toward memoirs, I can’t recommend When breath becomes air by Paul Kalanithi enough if you are looking for something powerful enough to change your perspective on life. It is a real tear jerker though. But it is short, easy to read, and brilliant.
