I am trying to read more and find it super difficult to concentrate and enjoy books that follow multiple characters/ scenarios. I find that I can actually concentrate on books that are centered around one or two main characters or events and have more of a straight forward plot vs giving you bits of the plot and then having it all come together at the end. I enjoy thriller, dystopian or post apocalyptic books the most. Books that I have really enjoyed in the past are:
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Prey by Michael Crichton
The One Man by Andrew Gross
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
A book that I just read that I didn’t enjoy as much is:
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
It’s not that I didn’t enjoy the content of the book. I would have loved it if it didn’t jump around as much, but I just have a very difficult time remembering different characters and getting fully engaged when the book jumps around too much.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
