At least the books I have seen or read about depression have characters with either extreme backgrounds (ex: novels like Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine, My Year of Rest and Relaxation) or “ordinary” people set in very difficult situations, such as death of loved ones.
I wonder if there’s novels that explore how *anyone* can fall into depression without “extreme” cause, or more like, how anything can be an extreme cause of depression depending on circumstances, if this makes sense.
I’d love to have suggestions for classics or literary novels that have been highly acclaimed, but at the same time, I’d appreciate any suggestion.
Thank you!
