I just read a bunch of really sad or intense books and I want to smile/chuckle/laugh a bit. Something entertaining and fun without being cheesy. Thanks 🙂
Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day by Winifred Watson. If you’re not totally gooey by the end, I would be really surprised.

These two books are really funny. The first one is much better if you listen to it because the main characters thinks aloud/or we can hear her thinking. It’s a cute lighthearted mystery with a bunch of snark. Part of what is funny is that the old lady who thinks aloud is the SNARKIEST person in the book. One wouldn’t expect an old lady to be like that; this makes it even funnier…best heard as an audiobook. “Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers,” by Jesse Q. Sutanto is the title.
Next up is “Mrs. Plansky’s Revenge,” by Spenser Quinn. Oddly, this one’s main character is ALSO an old woman. I didn’t read/listen to them one after the other but you’re looking for uplifting and funny books and these two just happen to have old ladies as main characters. This one is a story about revenge. Yet it’s not the sort of revenge that one would read about on Reddit, lol. The woman fell for the Grandson Scam and her life got turned upside down. She sets out to find the scammer and hilarity ensues.
