Dear everyone, I’m looking for a book, and I only have a very vague memory of it.
I borrowed it sometime in the 2000s in Germany from our local library, so the publication date is likely before 2010 (probably a lot earlier). The cover wasn’t particularly modern for the 2000s and it was well used. It was in our relatively small library, indicating a certain level of popularity.
It’s a children’s or young adult science fiction book. While it could have been German, I assume it was a translation, probably from American literature. I read the hardcover, and it was a rather big book I think. Either thick or 300+ pages.
I can’t remember the plot 100%, but it is set in a world where the divide between the rich and poor is very clear. One scene I recall is a group of poorer individuals, teenagers or children, breaking into a tower belonging to the wealthy (because they want to steal a certain item?). Do you have any idea which book this could be, given this little information? Thanks for any help 🙏
