I just finished this book and wow, there were parts of this book that really hit home a bit hard and other parts that made me realize how grateful I should be.
I admire her strength to tell her story and to hold true to herself and what was right; instead of what would have been easy.
Overall this was an uplifting memoir, I am so relieved that Tara was able to build a life for herself with the odds stacked against her. I know what it’s like to lose a family member to the facts of a situation because turning a blind eye to me is not an option. How some people can choose to live a false reality in order to keep the boat from rocking is just beyond me. Would it be easy? Of course it would be, but easy for who? Easy for her parents for sure- it would allow them to exploit, use and abuse her the way they have done everyone of their children at some point or another.
