It seems relevant again. The book is semi-autobiographical, and imperfect (imo). But Dr. Cornejo Villavicencio, who was herself a DACA recipient, has a strong voice, and did a powerful job researching the lives of the people in America we call “undocumented,” who are routinely dehumanized and invisibilized.
Just go read it. It’s easy to listen to policy-level analysis of a “border crisis” or the “strains on American cities and border towns.” Go put some faces to those stories, and then come back and think on the policies again.
