I just finished The count of Monte Cristo, and thoroughly enjoyed it after I got past the adjustment of reading it the way it was written. Now I’m looking to expand on more classics. Here’s a list of the things I’ve read already so that we can avoid doubling up.
The required school readings – 1984, Fahrenheit 451, The Scarlet letter, all of Edgar Allan Poe, to kill a mockingbird, Jane Eyre, The Great Gatsby, catcher in the rye, the Grapes of Wrath, pride and prejudice, great expectations, Lord of the flies, animal farm, and the Hobbit.
I also read these common suggestions – the Iliad and the Odyssey, David Copperfield, atlas shrugged, Shogun, and slaughter House five.
I’d prefer never to read Austin or Steinbeck again.
Thanks for your help!

Macunaima by Mario de Andrade. It’s like a Brazilian Lord of the Rings based on Amazonian mythology and lore.
**Treasure Island**
**One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest**
*Frankenstein* by Mary Shelley
anything by Washington Irving
Crime and Punishment
Rebecca
A Separate Peace
