I will go straight to the point, i’m absolutely done with problematic romance books. If it’s not the normalization of bad and toxic people / relationships, it’s the normalization of all sort of other things that completely turn me off.
I swear to God, i can make a whole PowerPoint about it. So, we have sexism / misogyny, misandry, queerphobia, xenophobia, racism, psychophobia, p***philia, fatphobia, normalized abuse, stalking ( and all the kidnapping and captivity stuff ) slut shaming and i can go on and on. And the thing is, it may be subtle but like, it’s still here🧍🏻♀️and it’s still uncomfortable for me. I think i will make a bingo everytime i read a romance book, because at this point, i’m sure i will always hit one box or more.
Alright, i’m done with the complaining. The question is : can you recommend me an unproblematic romance book please ? Of course, i have my preferences : i like adult books ( with adult characters ) the most and, those days, i really appreciate the urban fantasy genre. However, i’m open to most of the genres, except gore.
