Hi all,
I’m going to Japan in a couple of months and I’d love to read a bunch of Japanese books before and while I’m there. I’ve read a bunch of Murakami books and couple Mishima books (The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea, Confessions of a Mask, and Spring Snow) but I’d like to expand my reading. I’d also love to learn more about Japanese history.
Right now I’m reading Samurai William by Giles Milton and so far on my list are Snow Country by Kawabata, No Longer Human by Dazai, A Personal Matter by Oe and I am a Cat by Soseki. Any others I should add? I’m open to more contemporary works as well. Also more female authors would be great!
