Do you always check spoilers before/ during reading?

For most novels, I really need to check spoilers first. At least, the most simple one- is it happy ending or not. It might be silly, but I realised, more stressful I am, less likely I can read “heavy “ novels. Maybe I’m also too emotionally engaged while reading? Anyhow, sometimes I need to even read the whole summary before deciding to read certain novels (story driven ones mostly lol). When I’m not stressed out, I regard spoilers as a big no-no. Ehm, but now, spoilers are more like habit.

Who else has this shameful behavior?
    P.S. shameful as a joke

    1. Ah, I see you are a (wo)man of sophisticated taste!

Truth to be told, I was exposed to Opera as an infant, when knowing the plot is crucial to appriciate the finesse of the music…

Just joking. I like spoilers, often check the summary so I can focus on language characters and way we get there. Not knowing what’s gonna happen give me anxiety- I can bear it for the movie, but not whole book.

Maybe that’s also why I like retellings

I honestly can’t do this, no offense to you if that’s what you do. To mean it’s the sort of mindset that you already know what’s gonna happen kinda thing, then it just throws me off

    3. Not for me personally. But it’s really no different than rereading a book you already know.

    4. I always look for spoilers or how a book ends otherwise

      1) I’m too stressed even in casual books

      2) I can’t get appropriately hyped up for it and may end up dnf it….

Yeah ik it’s weird but I can’t help it i was like that since i was a child
