Is anyone else still slightly scarred from “the ministry of the future”?

Jesus the beginning of the book was so brutal. I find myself thinking about it a lot. Especially with the way climate change is going. It feels like one of those books that weighs heavy on you. I read it years ago but I still think about it to this day. It doesn’t matter what other books have shock value or death or dying. Something about it was just so bleak and devastating. The first protagonists life was just so fucking depressing. It felt like a more fucked up “don’t look up”.
