Hi all!
I am looking for book recommendations about plus size girls, preferably in high school or college! I just read “Fat Chance” by Leslea Newman and found I related so much to the narrator. If you have anything you can recommend that would be great! 😃
I was picked on in high school and these books bring me a sort of comfort in a way like I wasn’t alone. I know that sounds weird but TIA 😊

how about dumplin’ by julie murphy? only saw the movie and loved it, I assume the book’s good too. it’s actually a series of books.
Bridget Jones’ Diary
“I’ll Be The One” by Lyla Lee is about a plus size teenager in a kpop competition. It’s absolutely adorable and charming.
Not in HS/college but “One to Watch” by Kate Staymon-London — I haven’t read it but I picked up a copy for my free little library
NSFW and personally not my vibe but “Get a Life, Chloe Brown” by Talia Hibbert — who also has other books w/ plus sized characters. If you like steamy, might be worth a look!
lady oracle by Margaret Atwood is about a fat girl with a thin, image-obsessed mother. the MC grows up so only part of the book is her taking stock of her childhood, but Atwood was sharp as a tack about the struggles and psychology – and sociology – of that scenario. I lent it to a male friend with a similar background and he really liked it, fwiw.
holding up the universe
**Queen Kat, Carmel and St Jude Get A Life, by Maureen McCarthy**
Follows three girls from a small Australian country town as they leave home for the first time to go to college/university. One of them, Carmel, is quiet, overweight, self-conscious and very, very homesick. The other two…well, they have their own troubles.
If you’re interested in nonfiction, Shrill by Lindy West is really good
Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli and the Summer of Jordi Perez by Amy Spalding!
Eleanor and Park!
You didn’t specify a genre so I’ll recommend a romance series. I believe Talia Hibbert’s series of the Brown sisters features plus-sized female main characters. The first book is Get a Life, Chloe Brown.
I don’t think you have to read them in order but all of the sisters are in each book so there may be slight spoilers that way.
