Hi, I’m looking for recommendations for books where the main character / narrator is a really popular guy, preferably but not necessarily in high school. So he’s probably athletic, gets invited to lots of parties, lots of girls like him, etc.

I just finished the book Be More Chill by Ned Vizzini, where (not a spoiler, it’s in the plot synopsis) an unpopular guy basically figures out how to “be cool” and then suddenly becomes popular and starts hitting it off with the girls at his school. As someone with very little experience with girls, I found it really interesting to read the little explanations about what he was doing, why he was doing it, why the girls were into certain things, and stuff like that. It made me wonder if the author was really popular or if all the little “tricks” (stuff like “don’t pace when talking on the phone because it makes your voice bob up and down and sound nervous”) and psychological explanations were just completely made up.

Also, since there were multiple girls but the entire thing was told from the guy’s perspective, it also had a mystery element (at least to me) regarding which ones were actually into him.

But that book is really short, and the character was only “cool” for the second half, so I thought it would be interesting to see it explored more.

I think you should look up Ned Vizzini. Because although unintentional this post is rather ironic and slightly in poor taste.

    2. I do not know why but only one book comes to my mind for you.. The Picture of Dorian Gray
