I am on a weird book quest. I am looking for Fiction books based on “real” conspiracies or paranormal events.
So I am not just looking for conspiracy thrillers, they need to be based on real conspiracies.
I prefer being based on a specific event but I am also open to just the heavy use of real conspiracies.
Yes, I know there are a million books with UFO’s or Vampires or even Big Foot (Devolution was great!) but I am looking for things that take conspiracy a bit more seriously.
For example I recently read He Will Live Up in the Sky and while it is not based on a specific event it uses real conspiracy info to build the fictional plot (it was also written by someone who runs a “conspiracy website”).
I recently bought The Ninth Orphan which is in the same vein, lot’s of “real” conspiracies used to build the plot.
A more classic example would be The Name Of The Rose by Umberto Echo.
Oh, and bonus points if it deals with suppressed technology/medicine.

Denise Mina, *Rizzio*. Mary Queen of Scots turned into crime fiction.
*Chasing Shadows* by Tom Delonge/AJ Hartley is the gold standard. It came out before Wikileaks outed Tom’s sources, which included THE Air Force General in charge of research and an executive from Lockheed Martin’s Skunkworks.
People laugh off stuff he says but when he takes his time and says it on paper the overall story holds up extremely well. After Wikileaks outed his sources Tom had a little freakout and quit speaking as openly, but he still published the second book pretty fast.
