I have my album reviewers, I have my movie reviewers, and I even have game reviewers, but I don’t really have anyone I go to and trust when it comes to upcoming book releases. I basically just wait around until someone I know suggests something, or I happen upon a TikTok or Reddit post that recommends a book. Does anyone have a go-to trusted reviewer or recommendation page or anything like that when it comes to books slated to come out or that have recently been released?

I have found some great suggestions on the Likewise app.
I also find books after seeing a show or movie is based on, and reading others by that author.

    2. Whatever my book club is reading, if that gets over I just scroll through my Goodreads to-read shelf.

If I still want something new, I’ll go look at the recent award winners (Goodreads choice, Hugo, Booker, maybe even Nebula).

And even then if I want something new, then I’ll go checkout some of my favourite author’s to-read shelves.

Im a reviewer myself so i get information (and the actual books themselves) about newly-released/about-to-be-released books from places like NetGalley, but i also follow a lot of other reviewers in places like Goodreads and youtube. There’s this neat thing on goodreads where it tells you the next releases from authors I’ve read before, which is always useful. Goodreads’ actual recommendations aren’t good though, so if I’m looking for recommendations of new authors I use the recommendation feature from StoryGraph instead.

    4. I’ve gotten lots of great recommendations from this very subreddit!

Usually I’ll search by a genre I feel like reading and then there will be like 20+ suggestions. It’s how I discovered P.G Wodehouse, Discworld, Flowers of Algernon, a bunch of great non fiction, etc.
