Any fiction book recommendations to learn history?

For example, I’m in the middle of reading The Little Liar by Mitch Albom (about the Nazi invasion in Salonika, Greece against their Jewish population) and I find it is easier to learn about history when there is a made-up story behind it.

I’m interested in learning about history around the world but found textbooks to be too dry.

Any suggestions? Thank you!
