I have a really hard time getting into books if they don’t start quickly. I’m looking for thriller/horror that starts quickly and doesn’t relent. The only book I’ve read that is like that was Blake Crouch’s Dark Matter. I’d prefer non Sci-fi. I didn’t like Recursion, the sequel. I did like Sharp Objects but that was a little slow, and enjoyed her other works.

    1. What I always recommend for a thriller that won’t let you go is Wild Thing by Josh Bazell. There is a sequel too, if you want to go on, called Beat the Reaper.

Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. Trigger warning tho! A lot of the reviews on GoodReads suggested the story was too dark for a lot of readers. It was disturbing but I COULD NOT put this down.

    3. I also liked Dark Matter; I’d recommend These Violent Delights by Micah Nemerever

If you’re looking for fast paced and you like Gillian Flynn, I’d recommend *Prayers for Rain* and *Live By Night* by Dennis Lehane. Most of Lehane’s work is fast paced and has a lot of real world detail.

You could also try *Shoedog*, *Right as Rain* and *King Suckerman* by George Pelecanos. His other work is excellent but might not be what you’re looking for.
