Hello, I’ve been reading a lot this year and started the scarlet letter. After reading the first 70 pages of into and readers notes I realized I need a warm up book. I’m looking for a book set and shaped by a historical period that isn’t overly wordy and confusing. I’m looking for a semi wordy warm up and would love recommendations. Thanks !

How about the Scarlet *Pimpernel*? It’s much lighter. Romance, courage and intrigue in the French revolution 😊
I got you! Lonesome Dove. Set in south Texas in 1870s. Very simple prose. Super easy to read. Engaging. Greta characters. You can walk away for a few days or weeks and come back to it without losing your place. I just finished it this past weekend, and it’s one of the best novels I’ve ever read. So good.
