Hello!
I‘m looking for books where a MC adapts to a foreign culture during the book. For example, they have to learn a language, adapt to cultural norms etc, be it through kidnapping/inprisonment, marriage, emigration or other. I would love it if at some point the MC no longer knows where they actually want to belong.
The genre doesn‘t matter, but fantasy or historical books are preferred.
Examples that I liked are:
– Untred from „The Last Kingdom“. He is an englishman captured by danes and grows up as one of them
– Daenerys Targaryen from „Game of Thrones“, who lives with the Dothraki
– Jack from the Samurai Series (or Shogun), where a European becomes a Samurai in Japan
– Nico/Asha from „Asha“. He is a maltese boy captured by ottoman corsairs and becomes a captain
