I was absolutely stunned on how much I enjoyed this book! I read it in one sitting and loved the interesting and sometimes heartbreaking story of Flora and her Apis sisters.

At first, I did not know what to make of the book but I’m happy I kept reading. I had no idea that I would be so enraptured by the story of a hive of bees!

Paull did an amazing job creating building a rich, interesting, and surprisingly believable humanesque world while maintaining the “bee identity”, if you will.

If you read it, what did you think about it?

If you haven’t read it… Go. Go now and read it!

    1. Oh I really liked it. I read it months ago and I still think about it. This was the opening line to my GR review lol:

*Part scientifically accurate study of bee biology and culture; part dystopian nightmare set during the fall of an authoritarian regime, The Bees both fascinated and horrified me.*

There were some pretty scary moments in that book but I also learned some things about bee life, so I can’t ask for more than eduhorror haha!!

I have the author’s book about dolphins on my tbr and hope it’s just as good!

    2. This book goes so hard. It reads like dystopian SF but it’s actually just… bees. Eusocial animals are kinda fucked up when you think about it, huh.

Love this book – I recommend it to everyone. It inspired me to read up on bees, and I’m so impressed by how scientific fact is woven into the worldbuilding.
