I’ve been looking to add to my 2024 reading list and would appreciate any suggestions. Specifically, I’m hoping to find books published since 2000 with imaginatively settings that the characters feel grounded in — books where the characters don’t feel like outsiders learning about the sci-fi weirdness for the first time. Also, no John Scalzi. Love his books, but they’re not what I’m looking for right now.
Some books that I consider good examples:
– The Machineries of Empire (Ninefox Gambit) series by Yoon Ha Lee.
– Artemis by Andy Weir.
– The Sprawl (Neuromancer) series by William Gibson, if it were written more recently.
Bonus points if it’s written by a woman.
