Sure I’m not the only person who has seen a critically acclaimed book by a particular author, then read something else by that same person and thought, “wow, this is actually better than the one with all the praise!”
As much as I respect the positive reviews that *The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Klay* has gotten and all the awards that have come with it, *Telegraph Avenue*, to me, is better. Similarly, I loved *The Underground Railroad* and *The Nickel Boys* by Colson Whitehead, but *Harlem Shuffle* to me has been his best work to date. The list goes on, but I’m interested in what others have to add.
