I can see why so many people consider this his masterpiece. This is genuinely one of the finest books I’ve ever read.
I admit I was a bit confused for a while. The first 400 pages or so is mostly world building. But then, suddenly, it all starts to come together, and I couldn’t put it down.
I be thinking about this book for a long, long time.
My one nitpick: has Dostoevsky ever heard of this thing called paragraphs? Makes things a bit easier to read I think.
Next up: Anna Karenina.

I read this and loved it as a teen. Honestly I can’t remember a good chunk of it, I should give it a reread. I re-named my favorite cat Grushenka and her scenes are the bulk of my memories. Grush would be so loving and then slice your wrists without any warning. And then start purring.
I read Karina immediately after the Brothers too
