Title says it. I have a bad habit of continuing on with a book series when the only one that was any good was the first one. Wasted a lot of time on mediocre books with that policy. I mean, let’s be honest 9/10 people should only read Dune and forget the sequels. No offense if you’re that tenth person, by the way.
So with that in mind, I thought Hyperion was pretty good. Not great, but definitely good. Anyone who has read through the series, should I keep going or stop right here? Gotta admit, I’m super annoyed it ended on a freaking cliff-hanger but…

Read the 2nd one then skip the 3rd and 4th unless you absolutely fall in love with it.
Fall of Hyperion is much more like Hyperion part 2 than a true sequel. I haven’t read past 2, but I’m glad I read 2.
Read the second one, then stop.
Dune makes zero sense with only the first book, though? I’m not saying you should go read Children of Dune either, but most of the meat of Dune is a couple books in.
So, I loved the entire series, but my tastes might not match your own. Hard to offer advice, but I’m super happy I read all four.
Imo the second one is really good. Seeing how all the elements from the first book come together is very satisfying and the book is both thought provoking and well written.
Books 3 and 4 are actual trash, definitely skip.
I started out liking the second one, then quit halfway through.
If you’re the type of person that can keep track of a plot beginning to end you’ll find the second just starts retconning the entire first book left and right for an entirely new plot.
You should 100% read Fall of Hyperion. As others have said, it’s the second half of the story started in Hyperion.
Personally I like Endymion and Rise of Endymion, but you could be excused for not reading those.
I loved Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion but I think that the second series actively detracted from the series as a whole in my case. Give it a try but it was definitely not for me.
