(This is pasted from my post in the nonprofit sub and I added a bit about DEI)
I’m hoping to make a career shift -my best opportunities right now are at nonprofits or DEI at a corporation, and I want to be prepared. I feel that I don’t know the jargon, best “business” practices etc.
(To be clear, I do feel that I’m skilled/ competent enough for these positions, I’m just unfamiliar with industry specifics).
I was hoping to read a book or a few that will outline the nonprofit (or DEI) world in VERY basic terms. Such as, defining terms and introducing basic concepts.
I’m having difficulty with google because searching for books about working at a nonprofit mainly results in books that are directed at people who already work at a nonprofit/have familiarity with the industry. “Nonprofit for dummies” seems to be for people who are starting their own. Similar situation with DEI.
