What caught my eye: the producing company QCode and the very cool cover. The company that creates audio dramas made many, many hours of my chores fun with their productions, I was happy to dive into different genres with them. This novel was born in the same way, as an audio drama, you can find it on Spoti. It was only later published as an actual book.
The story: the population doesn’t wake up, it’s like an epidemic, ordinary people trying to maneuver in the middle of the events. Unfortunately, I couldn’t consider it better, because the style discouraged me from reading through. It starts as a mystical story, then turns into pulp crime, and then into a post-apocalyptic vision. All this without the interesting features of the listed genres, with dialogues only meant to be funny. In the meantime, the characters are so cliché and out of character that they would make switch channels on TV even with a hangover. I couldn’t connect or identify with any of them. Thus, the basic idea intended to be strange quickly lost its charm.
I stopped at the beginning of the third chapter. I also unsubscribed from the audio drama on Spotify. There are so many better ones available nowadays, even QCode ones!
