I’m almost done reading ‘the black cat’ by edgar allan poe. At the beginning of the story the narrator was a self-proclaimed sane and loving person, but it is later revealed that he suffers from alcohol-induced mood swings and uncontrollable rage, that cause him to lash out and violently kill his wife and cat.
Though he did initially have a guilty concious, he was constantly losing grip of reality and continued to descend into madness due to alcoholism.
I’m looking for a psychological horror book that has a similar storyline. P.s. There’s a lot more to the story (very good read BTW) but just for the sake of conveying the general idea.
