Preferably some kind of light-hearted fantasy, adventure, or action, but I’m open to anything. 🙂 Bonus points if there’s some kind of lgbt+ representation, but not a requirement. I’m an aroace guy and am tired if only seeing stuff that’s so centered around romance.
Any suggestions are appreciated! If you have any regular book suggestions feel free to leave those as well, graphic novels just tend to keep my attention better

    1. Private Eye is really good. It’s set in the future, and is fairly action heavy and mysterious. I don’t remember there being any romance angle, at least not for the main character. I probably wouldn’t consider it lighthearted, though. I wanted to suggest Murder Falcon, but it gets pretty heavy, as ridiculous as it is. Kinda made me cry a little at the end. Extremely worth it.

    2. Bone, American Born Chinese, Persepolis, Maus, March, Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, The Sandman, Fables, The Unwritten, Pride of Baghdad.

Witch Hat Atelier has like 1 romance, over halfway in. Moderately diverse characters. It has it’s dark moments but it is an adventure series about learning magic. (kind of cheating because it does have 1 romance, sorry.)

I’m also aroace if that helps, though most of my reading skews darker.

I’m also a fan of Squirrel Girl which has no romance (that I’ve encountered so far), a trans man, and some other representation. Specifically I mean Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. It’s a great light hearted story, where she often prefers to be friend her enemies (when she can).

I’m sure you’ve heard of it, but “Is Love the Answer” is a very good manga about an aroace person. It’s a little dark at moments but very hopeful. It’s about how they learn about asexuality and learn to accept themselves.
