I just read Homecoming by Kate Morton, and while I love her writing and usually love her stories, this one left me somber.

To lift my spirits, I think I need a story that ends on a good note. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a romance (since I myself associate happy endings with romance), but just something where everyone (or as many people as possible) wins. The plot doesn’t need to be rainbows and butterflies through its entirety, but I’d like to get away from gloom if I can.

Does such a book exist? If so, please let me know!

Falling into Us – Jasinda Wilder. It has some dramatic scenes, but it has a happy ending.

Are you okay with sci-fi? If so, Squirrel Girl Universe by Tristan Palmgren is about a super hero who’s generally just a pretty decent person who’s doing her best. Obviously it has a happy ending, albeit not a romantic one. There’s moments of turmoil but it’s an overall very optimistic book about riding in space whales and understanding people.

I just read The Wishing Game by Meg Schaffer and found it delightful after reading a bunch of unlikeable MCs in a row (looking at you Rebecca Yarros).

{{The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow}} is one of those books that has just the right ending.

**Project Hail Mary** by Andy Weir. Followed by **The Martian** by Weir.

But also **The Princess Bride** by S Morganstern. Get the 30th anniversary edition.

**Kaiju Preservation Society** by John Scalzi.

    6. *The Spellcoats* by Diana Wynne Jones

*Lord Valentine’s Castle* by Robert Silverberg

I recommend the Monk & Robot books by Becky Chambers – A Psalm for the Wild Built and A Prayer for the Crown Shy.
