Help me find this book?

This is such a long shot as I’ve been trying to find this book for years with no luck.

I can’t really remember the title. It was something about brain storm or mind storm or something like that. I don’t remember the author at all. I read this in high school back in 2002 or so. The cover had like a silhouette of a head with a storm in the forehead area.

The plot is about a teenage boy (I want to say his name is Alex or Andy) who is on the run from a “company” who wants him for his superpower. He can read people’s minds. He earns money for food and motel rooms by playing underground poker/card games. He meets a reporter/journalist (I think her name is Linda) who is good at her job because she can always tell when people are lying (that’s her super power)

The “company” creates another superhuman to find the boy. I think his name was Rolfe or Wolfe or something like that. They have this epic fight because this guy has super human strength and speed but because the kid can read his mind he’s able to evade him.

If you’ve heard of this book and know the name, I’d be relieved to know I’m not crazy and would love to read this again.
