I just finished this book, sobbing. I think some parts dragged on and didn’t need to be as long as they were. However, as someone mentally ill myself who has fallen into a lot of those same self destructive patterns, I found myself relating *a lot* to Jude. I was kinda surprised people found his character unrealistic.
Maybe it kept me reading simply because it feels relatable, I’ve had a lot of similar interpersonal battles with my family, friends and partners regarding my mental health. I didn’t find those to be unrealistic at all.
I agree that the constant sexual assaults on the main character were overly gratuitous. After a while I was like ok come on this is over the top. I suppose she was trying to get across the point that victims are more susceptible to becoming victims again.
I’m not as avid of a reader as many of the people here so maybe I just don’t know what good books are, but I was shocked that people *despise* it so much!!
Can people recommend me some fictions regarding serious mental health issues like this that are better if this one sucked so bad lol?
