Hey
First I deeply apologize for posting here with this messed up English no punctuation bad English I’m sorry alright.
I remember I always was attracted to novels I like the theme and the cover but never actually read until I was 18 I started reading self help and I found the mix of storytelling and information and deep insights very interesting I tend to read philosophical selfhelp it’s very great I read 1984 in Arabic my main language and damn that book is my favorite story.
philosophical and political I really loved it but then I set my standards high i thought in order to learn English I must start reading only in English so I read to kill a mockingbird the book theif the alchemist the catcher in the rye and other books if you ask me now what do you remember from them it’s very fuzzy bcs I couldn’t understand anything I used cliffnotes but it felt like a boring experience I can’t form a picture of what is happening I get confused it’s just a nightmare.
What should I do now? I tried Oxford bookworm but damn I can’t enjoy the story of the taxi driver I kinda hate it I only love deep stories I did a test in the British council and I scored b2 then I thought what the hell on goodreads brave new world is classified as b2 but I can’t understand anything you might say keep reading Arabic but nah I want to learn English and read in English any solution where you don’t have to go thought uninteresting material would be good I want to climb this mountain to fluency but in an engaging way how ?
I appreciate any help thanks.
