    Hello, thanks and advance

    I’m looking for a book or book series that has different types of magic within the series and not a single type like Harry Potter and the wand work, or wheel of time with manipulating the one power.

    The best example that I can think of is legend of the seeker/sword of truth. It has wizards, confessors, those leather pain girls, not to mention all the magical items, places, and creatures. Many different types of magic that impact in different ways

      Magic Kingdom for Sale, Sold! by Terry Brooks has Wizard magic, earth magic, forest magic, and a ton of magical creatures that all have their own unique type of power. There’s four or five more books set in that world as well, but Magic Kingdom is the first

      The Mistborn trilogy (The Final Empire, The Well of Ascension, The Hero of Ages) has three distinct different overall kinds of magic, but within those three are many different kinds of abilities. It’s really varied, and the further in you get the more varied it gets.

      charmed life by Diana Wynne Jones is set in a world where magic is normal but there are different kinds. the narrative doesn’t differentiate between them very clearly, but there’s at least one fun sequence where the rotaginist tries to explain the differences to a girl from our world.

      power of three has multiple different kinds. there are three races of people, each with its own customs and kinds of magic. and within the MC’s family and community there are distinct gifts.

    5. The Grishaverse from Leigh Bardugo. There’s different types of grisha with different types of elements they control.

    6. Maybe the Shades of Magic trilogy? The first is {{a darker shade of magic by v.e. Schwab}}

    7. Piers Anthony’s *Apprentice Adept* series had magicians of multiple colors, each of whom did magic in a different way. I read the first two or three, but didn’t finish the series.

    8. If you’re willing to read manga, try [Black Clover](https://www.viz.com/black-clover). Set in a world where everyone can use magic, it focuses on the orphan Asta, a magicless boy who seeks to become the Wizard King. There’s a *huge* variety of magic. For example, the gluttonous Charmy uses Cotton Magic (like it’s Sheep Cooks) to make a variety of yummy foods that she’s always happy to share. Finral uses Spatial Magic, often for teleportation. Vanessa uses Thread Magic, allowing her to manipulate others.

      And while it’s not magic, [Hunter x Hunter](https://www.viz.com/hunter-x-hunter) has “Nen”, which allows people to manipulate aura (life force) to create a wide variety of abilities that are different for every person. There’s also [JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure](https://www.viz.com/jojo-s-bizarre-adventure). Starting with its third arc, Stardust Crusaders, it introduces “Stands”. Stands are a manifestation of a person’s willpower, with a wide variety of appearances and abilities. For example, Guido Mista’s Stand “Sex Pistols” take the appearance of six small humanoids that reloads his gun and manipulates bullets mid-flight. Jolyne Cujo’s Stand “Stone Free” allows her to turn her body into thread. Johnny Joestar’s Stand “Tusk” allows him to fire his fingernails as if they were bullets.

      For a blend of myth and reality, ‘American Gods’ by Neil Gaiman is a book I find myself recommending time and again. Gaiman’s tale explores the gods of old myths and their struggle to survive in modern America, a place of new gods like technology and media.

      All magic users in the Lightbringer saga by Brent Weeks are what are called drafters – individuals that can turn light into a physical substance called luxin. There are different kinds of drafters that can draft different colors of light on the color spectrum. These include sub-red, red, orange, yellow, blue, green, and super violet. Each color – when drafted – produces a different kind of luxin that each have varying physical properties and emotional/psychological affects. In turn, each kind of drafter has a different fighting style and/or use in the Lightbringer world. For example, blue drafters produce blue luxin, which is inflexible, and causes the wielder to become cold and rational. Blue drafters can be used on the battle field because blue luxin is a great material to draft weapons.

      I know that’s not precisely what you were looking for, as you want multiple magic systems in one book. But Lightbringer’s magic system has enough variation within it that I thought it was still worth mentioning.
