I love her insight and her opinions, but, most of all, I like the cultural criticism (not in a negative way, but in an analytical way) of love, masculinity and pain. Do you know other non-fiction books that do the same but focus on the queer community, from the inside? (specifically about gay or bisexual men)

Eh, he can be problematic for a variety of reasons, but the first person that came to mind was Dan Savage. He has a lot of books. I do love his writing style.
I keep meaning to nominate Ivan e. coyote for the Order of Canada award. no-one I can personally think of deserves it more.
Out of the Shadows by Walt Odets might fit that description.
