I’m interested in freaks/outcast bound to a particular building or location all of the sudden. I’ve been reading and loving Alan Moore’s Swamp thing comic run and V for Vendetta comic book/film, V i noticed in particular has some elements in common with the Phantom but that doesn’t mean I’ll probably enjoy the book.
The one classic Gothic novel i read was Frankenstein and while i liked it, it was a struggle to finish because my attention span just isn’t what it use to be. I should and considered watching the film adaptations but i feel compelled to read the source material because films are pretty much never completely faithful and i want to explore more classic literature.
I want to read the one that is most riveting, atmospheric and I know this is a long shot given the time, but if it at least has one endearing strong multidimensional female character that isn’t just a damsel in distress that would be great.
